Building Tune-up Program

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE BUILDING TUNE-UP PROGRAM?

The Building Tune-Up Program provides Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) business customers that have an average monthly demand of 300 KW or larger with a “turnkey” program that makes it easy and affordable to upgrade to high-efficiency equipment. You can save on monthly energy costs with available energy-efficient lighting, HVAC, and refrigeration upgrades. Best of all, the program offers upgrades at no out-of-pocket cost to you by providing significant incentives and 0% financing for up to 5 years.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

JCP&L selected Willdan to work with a network of vetted local and national Program Allies to provide sales and installation services.

The Program Allies provide you with a no-cost facility assessment and cost proposal for relevant upgrades. The proposal includes line item costs and incentives, and the project’s simple payback (the length of time an upgrade is estimated to pay for itself in terms of monthly energy savings).

After the measures you select are installed, you pay your co-pay.

Willdan conducts pre- and post-inspections of the work to ensure the job was completed in line with program rules.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM?

Businesses within JCP&L’s service territory in New Jersey that have an average annual electric demand greater than 300 kW are eligible to participate in the Building Tune-Up Program. If you are unsure of your electric demand, contact us.

CAN PUBLIC SECTOR CUSTOMERS PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM?

The DI Program is offered to all non-residential customers of JCP&L in New Jersey with an average annual peak demand of greater than 300 kW. In addition, the program is part of JCP&L’s Energy Efficiency program offerings, which have been approved by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.

IS FINANCING AVAILABLE FOR THE PROGRAM?

Qualifying customers may be eligible for 0% financing up to a 5 year term; see program website for details.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO ENROLL?

The earlier the better to optimize your savings opportunities. The Building Tune-Up Program offers solutions for lighting, HVAC, and refrigeration upgrades to name just a few regardless of timing.

HOW IS THE INCENTIVE AMOUNT DETERMINED?

Incentives are determined based on category of installed new equipment and realized annual energy savings.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE INITIAL AUDIT?

Someone who can speak knowledgeably about the current facilities energy use including heating and cooling, lighting, and refrigeration, and provide access to the facility for contractors installing recommended upgrades.
